Kirchengschichtn ....

Dear readers,

anyone familiar with old walls, knows that is behind many a stone a most interesting history.

Church Biburg

are particularly exciting, the stories revolve around monasteries, churches and faith communities because they do not always have been particularly popular and were often alienated for other purposes, desecrated in some periods or even simply left aside.

Had it not been for the story in some one or other dedicated people, who would have saved would fall off many a beautiful place and not there today. Thus, his story would be wiped out and no one would learn from it and that would be unfortunate for future generations, whose welfare depends also on the story.

Today we would like to present some of these stories from our area. They are about hermits, pilgrims, a famous goose-Food and organs.

Biburg monastery in the Hallertau hops country

Church Biburg

's start in Biburg. The little village nestled between Siegburg and Abensberg in the Hallertau. Where the hops and the landscape is gently undulating in the soft light shines, stands the monastery Biburg and its Romanesque basilica.

The Monastery was once a Benedictine monastery and is one of the most important buildings in Bavaria. The church was built from 1225, appears high Middle Ages and is preserved in its appearance. Since the abandonment of the monastic establishment in the Reformation is the former monastery church of the parish church of the village.

The monastery itself was rebuilt after a fire around 1701 and again used for very different purposes. There was once a hotel, then an emigrant home, most recently in the historic rooms was an art school set up. Today, the rooms empty and waiting for people they meet again with life.

The church is open all day and can always be visited.

pilgrimage church of the Assumption in Allersdorf at Abensberg

few meters distance away is the Sanctuary Assumption All village.

This story is exciting. Once a Hermitage is today a place of pilgrimage of Mary, often and is often visited.

Sanctuary Allersdor

It is located on the top of Mrs. Hill and between Abensberg Biburg and belongs to the parish Biburg. Her story is based on a forecast and it is about a childless marriage, a son of the Earl of Babo Abensberg. The countess wished so much a child and vowed to the Mother of God Maria to donate a church, it should fulfill that desire.

The Countess got 7 children and unleashed their promise.

is probably the church but to the "blessed" by Ratzenhofen Bertha (d. 1151) back, which is known as mother of the hallowed Archbishop of Salzburg and is also known as founder of the monastery Biburg.

to church: she was already in the Middle Ages, a frequently visited place of pilgrimage and went through many hands. Jesuits took over from Ingolstadt Church and parish around 1598, it was built in 1600 again and it was a church with two side chapels built and only the tower was retained. As the pilgrimage experienced a huge upswing, was extended and built. The interior is rich and beautiful to see. There you will find elements of the late baroque and rococo, the early 16th -Century picture of grace, a wooden statue of the Virgin and Child, a high altar and many frescoes, stucco decorations and acanthus leaves.

Interesting is also the graveyard surrounding the church. In it there are still the most interesting stories.
